September 23, 2015 Meeting Summary

-- see also the August 26, 2015  meeting summary

1) Introductions:   Norah Robinson, King County Parks; Greg Helland, FOMP President, SODA representative; Michael Hobbs, Eastside Audubon, FOMP Secretary; Herb Bone, Marymoor R/C Club, FOMP Board

2) CIP/Project/Facilities Updates:

a) Birdloop – Trail asphalt repair ( parking lot to footbridge ) was put to bid.  Asphalt bids came in high, but they’ve put it out again.  [Successfully.  Work will begin October 19th and run about 2 weeks, weather depending.  The road along the east side of the Dog Area will be closed during that period.]

b) Noxious Weeds – Troy is still on loan to another division, but still plans to spray thistles this fall.  Garden loosestrife signs have been taken down and the lake platform decking has been repaired.

c) Community Gardens – 5520 lbs as of September 22, a couple of hundred pounds below their record, but still outstanding. Season ends 10/31.

d) ) Sammamish River Transition Zone – Annual maintenance on the Transition Zone (willow trimming, mowing both sides, desbris removal) has been completed.  As for the possible slough reroute, the final meeting of the Stakeholders Advisory Committee will be October 14th.  Further public meetings will occur as the project advances.

f) Clise Mansion – WIndow repairs, kitchen and porch remodel – some funding has been identified.  Currently working on permits to redo porch and kitchen.   Some work will begin in fall.

g) Concert Venue –   Concert series – October 6th meeting with Redmond City Council to address noise complaints arising from the Sublime with Rome two-night concert event.

For 2016 season, the reserved seating area will have to be replaced.  The existing plastic panels have disintegrated to the point that they can not be used again.

3) Other – CHOMP – Went well, but that weekend (rainy, first Seahawks game, not much time for advertising) may have contributed to relatively small attendance (about 2000). But festival went well and attendees enjoyed it.

Next Meeting: October 28, 2015, at the Art Barn
