June 23, 2026 Meeting Summary
-- see also the May 26, 2026 meeting summary
- Welcome and Introductions: Justin Camputaro, Marymoor Park Administrator; Greg Helland, SODA, FOMP President; Michael Hobbs, Marymoor Bird Survey, FOMP Secretary; Glenn Eades, Eastside Audubon Bird Loop, neighbor; Jannell Seigwarth, Marymoor Live, online
- CIP/Project/Facility Updates:
a: Eastside Audubon Birdloop:
- There is no First Saturday work party in July.
- EAS and Glenn are trying to figure out how/if the East Meadow can be maintained over the long haul. Meadows will naturally revert to shrub and forest, unless the meadow is burned or mowed.
b: Marymoor Community Gardens:
- Food bank plot has already begun some limited harvesting.
- Water consumption is a big concern; they are actively scouting to prevent excessive and accidental water level.
c: R/C Field (MAR/C):
- Have a big event Saturday, with an estimated 300 people.
- Parks is working with MAR/C to replace their fencing and possibly update the signage.
d: Marymoor Velodrome Association:
- Monday/Wednesday/Friday racing is now ongoing.
- Regionals this weekend.
- MVA has noted an uptick in eBike usage of the track, which is not permitted.
e: SODA - Off-leash Dog Area:
- Fox Tail grass control continues. This has increased to near unprecedented levels, though vegetation management is more prepared this year than last year.
f: SES/CMC - Concert Venue & Clise:
- Good run of shows, with pretty good attendance, though FIFA has impacted visits. They feel they have hit their stride.
- Few Clise rentals, though.
- They have a FIFA Watch Party on July 19th.
- The concert calendar is set for the season.
- Janelle did ask why there is a large tree cordoned off with orange pylons; Justin believes it is just a bit of trimming.
g: Concessionaires:
- Lime Bikes have made a new agreement with King County Parks, but the bikes cannot be parked within the park (enforced using “Geo-fencing”). Lime Bike users may park (terminate their ride) at the Light Rail center, but not within Marymoor, though bikes may be ridden through the park.
- Wash Spot is replacing their roof in mid-August and will be closed for a week or two.
h: Events: Marymoor will serve as overflow parking, if necessary, for Sound Transit for Seattle FIFA game days. This is most likely to occur on Monday, July 6th.
i: Maintenance:
- King County has been applying pesticides to invasive plants.
- Baseball/softball maintenance is a big focus now.
- Trail brushing going on along several area trails. The East Meadow trail etc. will be brushed in a week or two.
j: Capital Site Planning:
- Updates next month from Warren Jimenez
Next meeting, TUESDAY, July 28th, 2026 in the Art Barn
