Friends of Marymoor Park
September 27th, 2006 Meeting Summary
Neither Greg Helland nor Michael Hobbs could attend the September meeting, and no notes were taken. However, at the October meeting, Herb Bone related one of the conversations from the September meeting:
In attendance: Norah Gaynor (KC Parks), Herb Bone (MAR/C, FOMP board), Jack MacKinnon (Community Gardeners Association), Stew Konzen (Lake Washington Youth Soccer), Peter Holbrook from the MOPAR Chrysler Automobile Club.
Peter talked about possibly having a car show on the event pad. He's the event director of MOPAR. Chrysler Automobile Club. Annual car show, which has been hosted at BCC. Their rental fee has gone up, so they're looking elsewhere for 2008.
In 2005, the show comprised 339 show cars, and a swap meet (50-100 booths).
Norah voiced some concerns about whether this would fit into Marymoor. She also mentioned that the fee might not be any cheaper than BCC. Pete has subsequently submitted a proposal which Parks is considering.
At the October meeting, Harley pointed out that the Event Pad is not supposed to be used for parking, because the stormwater system was not designed for dealing with oily runoff. This might preclude its use for car shows.
Next meeting, Wednesday, October 25th.
