Blue-winged Teal

Blue-winged Teal are seen almost every year, and in some years we've had several sightings. They are primarily a spring migrant, with the highest concentration of sightings falling in the 3rd and 4th week of May, but with other spring sightings scattered between mid-April through mid-June. In fall, we've had only 4-5 sightings, all but one falling in the month of August. Two females who landed at the weir on 2004-09-29 were notably late. Blue-winged Teal are most often seen in the slough and in the ponds at Marymoor West (a.k.a. the Rowing Club), sometimes traveling with Cinnamon Teal. |
