Snow Geese are seen less frequently than Greater White-fronted Geese, but their occurrence is similar, with occasional sightings from mid-October through early February. Usually only a single Snow Goose has been present amongst a flock of other geese species, but a few times larger flocks have been seen flying overhead: 40 on 1995-10-26, 17 on 1996-10-24, ~35 on 2008-12-20, and ~200 on 2011-01-08. Seven were photographed on the ground during a snowstorm, 2008-12-24. The best place to look for them is amongst large flocks of geese on the mowed grass fields. |
